Burna Boy tops New York Times 2019 best songs’ list

Nigeria’s Burna Boy has made it to New York Times’ ‘The 54 Best Songs of 2019’ for his song ‘Anybody.’

The first two on the list are Lizzo for the song ‘Cuz I Love You’ and FKA twigs for ‘Cellophane.’

Others include Tame Impala for ‘It Might Be Time,’ Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, ‘Bright Horses,’ Angel Olsen, ‘Lark,’ Joe Henry for ‘The Fact of Love’ among others.

The US-based newspaper had this to say about Burna Boy:

“The calm, husky tone and understated beats of Burna Boy, from Nigeria, belie a determination to unite Africa and its diaspora. This track from his 2019 album, ‘African Giant,’ is both insinuating and ambitious.”

Afro-fusion star has had a stellar year winning awards and headlining concerts.

His African Giant album received a Grammy Awards nomination in November.

The widely-acclaimed album was selected in the Best World Music Album category alongside Angelique Kidjo’s Celia among others.

Reactions trail Kanye West’s decision to run for US presidency 2020

Recall that earlier today, Kanye West had announced that he intends to run for the United States presidency come 2020.
His post, however, garnered mixed reactions on social media.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States.” the 43-year-old tweeted.

While many did not take the announcement seriously, others expressed disbelief with memes and jokes.

‘Sheer wickedness,’ Musician Joshua Vincent recounts encounter with Dbanj rape accuser, Seyitan

Musician Joshua Vincent has reacted to Seyitan accusing D’banj of rape, sharing his encounter with both of them in 2018.

According to Joshua Vincent, in 2018 when D’banj and the band went for a show in Cotonou, Seyitan who accused him of rape was the one that cooked for the group before retiring with the singer.

N1.5b lawsuit: D’banj promises giveaway for ‘real victims’ of rape

Popular Nigerian singer, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name D’banj, who has maintained his innocence in the rape allegation brought against him by a woman named Seyitan Babatayo, has promised to have a giveaway for the ‘real victims’ of rape from the N1.5billion he is demanding as damages from his accuser.

The 40-year-old said this on Saturday in reply to a fan with Twitter username, @EkehWest, who asked him to give his fans a share of the money when he gets it.

“Promise us also that you will do giveaway from that 1.5b,” he tweeted.

D’banj replied; “Of course I will, for the real victims of rape and the helpless. @[email protected]
