Businessman packages, sells powdered milk ‘Sierolat’ which expired 20 months ago in Kano
Expired powdered milk worth N3.5m has been uncovered and seized by the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA).
WuzupNigeria reports that the over 40 bags of powdered milk were seized when KAROTA officials raided an uncompleted building at Zabi-Kafa, Bachirawa, Ungogo Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
It was gathered that the raid followed a tipoff about activities of some persons suspected to be the owners of the milk who operated in the said building.
The dairy product named, ‘Sierolat’, upon examination by KAROTA officials, was found to have expired over 20 months ago.
However, the unscrupulous businessman (name withheld), who allegedly owns the product, was still repackaging the expired product and selling it to unsuspected buy confiscated a trailer load of expired flour products.
The Managing Director of KAROTA, Hon. (Dr) Baffa Babba Dan’agundi has called on the general public and anyone who has any information about such illegal businesses to come forward as his office has a reward package for any persons whose information leads to arrests of such products without revealing his or her identity.
Though no arrest was made during the recent operation, the Agency is on the trail of the owner and his personal who escaped arrest upon sighting the KAROTA operatives.
