Car rams into restaurant, kills pregnant woman and her husband
A pregnant woman and her husband were among three persons killed by a car on the eve of St Valentine’s day in Calabar, Cross River State.
Eyewitnesses said the victims were eating at a local restaurant by the roadside on MCC road when the incident happened Thursday night.
It was gathered that the brakes of the ill-fated car failed and the driver lost control of the vehicle which rammed into the victims, killing the three persons on the spot and injuring the others severely.
The driver was said to be coming from Mobil axis of MCC road when the brakes of his vehicle failed.
An eyewitness said initially they thought only chairs were destroyed by the vehicle only for them to discover with the help of phone torchlight that some customers had been crushed to death on the spot, while three others were severely injured.
A salesperson identified the dead husband and wife and said the woman was heavily pregnant.
