CLEANER LAGOS! Pandemonium as strange fire guts Lagos most popular dumpsite [Photos]

There was pandemonium on Wednesday evening after a fire gutted the most famous dumpsite at Olusosun, Ojota in Lagos State.

The cause of the inferno which is yet to be ascertained left residents, commuters and motorists in panic. In the pictures that emerged on social media, thick black smoke was seen from the dumping site located near the old Lagos Toll Gate.

The strange fire reportedly caused a gridlock traffic in the area, leaving many commuters and motorists stranded.

Responding to the incident, the General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency,  Adesina Tiamiyu, said the fire started around 4pm, adding that the cause of the fire outbreak was yet to be ascertained. He said the inferno was quickly put out to stop it from getting to the LAGBUS Terminus.

He said that there was no casualty as the emergency response team, the Lagos Fire Service, the Lagos Waste Management Authority were at the site to curtail the fire.

Meanwhile, the state government has said that the Olusosun and other dumpsites will be closed down, as part of the Cleaner Lagos Initiative.
