Cleric tasks government on distribution of COVID-19 palliatives

Published

The Chaplain, Catholic Women Organisation Archdiocese of Abuja (CWOAA), Rev. Fr. Francis Kale, on Saturday urged the Federal Government to re-strategize and be more transparent in the distribution of COVID-19 palliatives.
Kale gave the charge during the distribution of palliative materials by CWOAA to indigent members in Abuja.
He said the government should consider partnering the church or with community leaders, so as to get to every needy Nigerian.
While hoping that the palliatives would go a long way to relieve the hardship and suffering of members, the Cleric urged Nigerians to remain steadfast, adding that God is in control.
The cleric said that he had heard that the government was sharing palliatives.
“I have not received any for my members or seen anybody that says he or she has received for self or for the group.
”I think the government should re-strategize and maybe partner the church or community leaders to get to reach needy Nigerians,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Mrs. Mary Imaezue, the President, Catholic Women Organisation Abuja Archdiocese (CWOAA),  said the association raised the money to assist indigent and vulnerable members of the organization.
She said that the association felt the pains of its members and wished to offer some palliative measures to help the indigent members, especially in parishes in more vulnerable areas because of their peculiarities.
Imaezue said the organization contributed the sum of N500,000  to the project and with support from other parishes it was able to buy over 31 bags of rice, bags of beans, bags of garri, cartons of vegetable oil, Maggi and other items.
She appealed to women to use the opportunity to rebuild their homes, know their children, study the Bible with the children, and raise them in the way of God.
