CONSPIRACY AND FORGERY! Woman arraigned for allegedly stealing N498,000 from RCCG account
A 32-year-old woman, Tope Oyinloye, has appeared in a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly forging a Sterling Bank cheque and withdrawing N498,000 from the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s account.
Oyinloye, who resides at No. 18, Johnson St., Ipaja, a Lagos suburb, is standing trial on charges of conspiracy, forgery and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 13 at No. 23, Olonode St.,
Yaba, Lagos.
He said the accused had conspired with others now at large to forge a Sterling Bank cheque and withdraw N498, 000 from a bank account
belonging to Redeemed Christian Church of God, Yaba, Lagos.
According to Unuigbe, it was when the church’s Financial Secretary received a debit alert on his phone that he went to the bank to
complain.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 363 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, denied the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr P.A. Ojo, admitted the accused to a bail of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused and must be gainfully employed with an evidence of three years
tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case until July 27.
