Coronavirus: PSG vs Borussia Dortmund match to take place behind closed doors
PSG’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday will take place behind closed doors amid coronavirus fears.
The second leg of the last-16 tie is due to be played at PSG’s Parc des Princes stadium, but fans will not be allowed to attend.
It becomes the latest fixture to fall victim to the coronavirus and the second Champions League tie.
Valencia’s meeting with Atalanta at their Mestalla stadium in Spain will also be played behind closed doors.
Dortmund leads the tie 2-1 on aggregate, arguably handing them an advantage without the presence of PSG’s home crowd.

French police issued a statement on Monday, which read:
“In application of the measures announced by the defense council last night, the Prefect of Police decided that the match #PSGBVB will take place behind closed doors.”
PSG had been desperate to ensure their fans could attend the fixture, and even organised a mass cleaning of the stadium as they outsourced a company to disinfect the grounds.
The Oise region in France, which is just north of Paris, has experienced a cluster of cases of patients contracting the Covid-19 virus.
One solution suggested was for PSG to refund all fans from that region, but now all supporters have been banned from attending.
France itself has experienced more than 1,000 cases of the virus, with the death toll currently stood at 19.
The French government has banned public gatherings of more than 1,000 people after president Emmanuel Macron held an emergency meeting with health minister Olivier Veran.
All matches in Italy’s Serie A over the weekend were played behind closed doors in an attempt to restrict the virus spreading.
