COUNCIL POLLS! We found no evidence of underage voting in Kano, says INEC fact-finding committee
Following a video showing some children voting in an election in Kano, a fact-finding has said it found no evidence of the act.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had sent the fact-finding team to Kano after it emerged that underage voters might have participated in the state’s council poll.
But speaking to journalists on Friday, the Chairman of the committee, Abubakar Nahuce, said interactions with civil society organisations and media showed no evidence of underage voting has emerged.
He said,
“From all have seen and discussed with you media men, none of you has seen any underage voter in the line or voting.”
The team has so far met with the chairman of the Kano Sate Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), the media and other relevant bodies.
