Court remands man over alleged threat to kill in Osun
An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Thursday remanded one Emmanuel Mbah, 21, for allegedly threatening to kill one Dr Adeyinka Ademola.
The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 29, 2019 at about 2:00pm at Eleyele area of Ile-Ife in Osun.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendant threatened to kill Ademola through text messages and phone calls with his MTN number: 08031300813.
He said that the offence contravened Section 323 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Collins Omoke, urged the court to grant the defendant bail in the most liberal terms.
He pledged that his client would not jump bail, but would provide substantial sureties.
The Magistrate, Muhibah Olatunji, however, turned down the oral bail request and asked the counsel to provide written application.
Olatunji ordered that the defendant be remanded in a Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till Jan. 14 for ruling on bail application.
