Court remands suspected cultist over alleged murder.

An Osogbo Magistrates’  Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of one Agbebunmi Biodun, 25, a suspected cultist in Ilesa Correctional Center over alleged murder.

Biodun’s plea was not taken by the court due to the magnitude of the alleged offence he committed.

The Magistrate, Mr Taofeeq Badmus, had ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa Correctional facility.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Elisha Olusegun had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 25, 2018, at about 7:00 p.m, at Idasa area of Ilesa.

Olusegun said that the defendant unlawfully shot one Adesoye Adekunle to death with a gun for unjust reasons.

He said the offence contravened Section 1(1)(2) and punishable under Section 6 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap RI vol. 14 Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and Sections 324, 319(1) and 64(a) of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. ll Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The plea of the defendant, represented by his Defence Counsel, Mr Kehinde Adepoju, was not taken by the court.

The case was adjourned to July 21 for mention.
