COVID-19: APN distributes relief items to host community

The American Polytechnic of Nigeria (APN), Wasimi, Oyo State, has distributed relief items to its host community and environs as palliatives to cushion the effects of the lockdown aimed at curtailing the spread of the coronavirus.

Newsmen report that APN, a newly established private polytechnic, has Dr Oludare Akande as proprietor.

Among items distributed by APN to ameliorate the sufferings of the people of Wasimi and Ado-Awaye were rice and semovita.

Newsmen also report that the materials were distributed by Dr Femi Adetola on behalf of Akande.

Speaking at the occasion, Adetola said that the proprietor of the institution was disturbed by the hardship the people, especially those in rural areas, were facing due to the pandemic.

He said that Akande’s effort was to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, adding that gesture was the beginning of a robust and mutually beneficial relationship between the polytechnic and residents of the host community and its environs.

Adetola advised beneficiaries to ensure equitable distribution of the items especially to widows, widowers and other vulnerable persons during the lockdown.

Oba Ademola Folakanmi, the Alado of Ado-Awaye in his response, appreciated the kind gesture of the polytechnic.

The monarch promised the management of the newly established polytechnic of support, assuring that all staff and students of the institution would get the desired support.
