COVID-19: FCT arrests Turkish for violating restriction order
The Federal Capital Territory Enforcement Team on COVID-19 has arrested a Turkey national simply identified as Mahmood for violating the stay-at-home order.
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had proclaimed a 14-day lockdown on FCT, Lagos and Ogun States to stop the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
Mahmood is the operation manager of Zecerced Quarry and furniture on Arab road, Kubwa.
The chairman of the enforcement team, Ikharo Attah, accused him of also operating an illegal furniture factory.
He said Mahmood was only permitted by the Federal Capital Territory Administration to operate a quarry.
Ten persons were caught working in the factory by the enforcement team contrary to the lockdown order.
Attah, who frowned on the violation of the stay-at-home order, vowed that the Turkish would be made to face the law.
He said, “They have the permission of FCTA to use the quarry work to construct roads but the illegal part of it that they now opened a big factory inside the quarry site for furniture making.”
The Turkish has been handed over to the FCT police command for prosecution.
