COVID-19: Physically challenged persons pray for Gov. Okowa, others
The Ika South Chapter of Members of Joint National Association of Persons Living with Disabilities (MJNAPLD), on Thursday in Abavo Delta, held intercessory prayers for the family of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Others joined in the prayers for quick recovery was the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, and the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu.
Mr. John Paul, the Ika South Local Government Area chapter Chairman told newsmen that the prayer had become necessary to invite God into the matter.
According to him, it is heartbreaking news that even the daughter of the governor tested positive for COVID-19 alongside other officials of the government.
He said that the prayer was for the quick recovery of the affected persons, who they described as good leaders.
He said God would hear their prayers and that the officials would come out from the grip of the pandemic strong and in good health as the challenge was not unto death.
He explained that as persons with disabilities, they believe that God can heal every sickness.
“We do not have anything to give to our amiable governor, the SSG and the Commissioner for Information, than to offer our prayers to God on their behalf.
“They deserve our prayers because they are good leaders that have shown us love and care.
‘ ‘We have prayed and declared that by His mercies, our affected leaders among other COVID-19 patients in Anioma, Delta State, Nigeria and the world at large, are healed,” he said.
Meanwhile, the chairman used the medium to encourage citizens to adhere to the NCDC and state government’s directives against the spread of the virus.
The prayers, which were conducted by Prophet Joseph Igbodo of the Divine Faith Deliverance Mission International, Agbor, declared God’s healing upon them.
