Published

The Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday in Abuja commended the Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), for partnering with it in the fight against COVID-19 in the country.

Mr. Majid Ali, the Deputy Inspector-General, Operations, who represented the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, made the remark while receiving COVID-19 personal protective kits donated by the council.

Ali applauded NCAC for the donation, noting that it showed how appreciative and concerned NCAC was about police welfare at the frontline in the fight against Coronavirus.

According to him, some other well-meaning Nigerians have also donated prepared food to police personnel on duty particularly to those at the boundaries and borders.

“We are soliciting for more well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the police as we are also victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Citizens should adhere to the directives of the Presidential Task Force on social distancing, the use of face mask and no movement after 8 p.m in order to support the police in ensuring all lives are safe,” he said.

He also urged Nigerians to be law-abiding and adhere to the government and expert advice amid coronavirus pandemic.

Runsewe also hailed the I-G of Police for directing that there should be no human rights abuse in the implementation of the order.

“The Nigeria Police has remained a frontline organization in the fight against coronavirus.

“The very function of the Nigeria Police exposes them to risk/professional hazards and all well-meaning Nigerians must assist the Police to effectively discharge their duties with minimal risk.

“Now that the lockdown has been partially relaxed, we must observe safety rules, keep social distancing, and avoid crowded areas.

“With God on our side and working together as one, we are sure to overcome,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that NCAC donated locally made protective cultural face-masks, regular face-masks made of local fabrics (Adire), bottles of hand sanitizer, liquid soap, and information handbills on CODIV-19 preventive measures, among others.
