COVID-19: UITH suspends consultant, Professor Salami, for concealing information on status of dead patient
The Management of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital [UITH] has suspended Prof A K. Salami, a Senior Consultant in the hospital who allegedly concealed information on the status of the patient, Alhaji Muideen Obanimomo, who died as a result of COVID-19 virus in the hospital last Thursday.
The suspension of Professor Salami was as a result of his unethical conduct in the admission, management and eventual release of the corpse of a suspected COVID -19 patient who died in the hospital on the 3rd of April, 2020.
A statement signed by David Odaibo, Director of Administration of the Hospital on behalf of the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor A. D. Yusuf confirmed the suspension last night.
Public Relations Officer of UITH, Elizabeth Ajiboye also confirmed the suspension to Punch correspondent last night.
Ajiboye said, “That is the news,” when asked to confirm the statement on Monday night.
She said that further information on the suspension would be revealed to the public today (Tuesday.)
