COZA: Nathaniel Bassey’s reaction to rape allegations divides Twitter
The ongoing rage over the rape allegations levelled against Senior Pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo, may not be ending soon as a legion of social media users is slamming anyone who expresses a contrary opinion from the condemnation of rape and the perpetrators.
This seems to be why the reaction of Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey to the rape allegations has sparked mixed reactions among Twitter users.
WuzupNaija reports that Bassey had taken to his Instagram page to host a live session to react the damning rape allegations by Busola Dakolo against Fatoyinbo which has led to the cleric’s withdrawal from pastoral activities.

In his reaction, the singer had said God is using the scandal to purge his church and things that can be shaken are shaken.
His reaction, however, sparked a series of mixed reactions among Nigerian social media users.
While some were of the opinion that the singer didn’t outrightly condemn the act, others opined that his opinion on the issue is an eye-opener for Christians.
See some of the reactions:
I said it, this Busola Dakolo allegations on Pastor Fatoyinbo will serve as a precedence for many shocking things to come. It will be massive revelations.
I totally agree with Nathaniel Bassey @nathanielblow on this one. #cozaprotest

I can’t believe people are insulting Nathaniel Bassey and calling him names simply because they disagree with his opinions. It’s okay to disagree but when it comes to insulting a minister of God, I dunno for you people again o.
— Oluwafoyinsayemi (@MsFoyin) July 1, 2019
We all wanted Christian ministers to comment on the issue. Nathaniel Bassey did, so insult him because he doesn’t see it the same way you did, word for word. It’s you who’s high on codeine

Anyone who wants this thing covered up under the excuse of wanting to “Protect The Church” should be investigated thoroughly.
Be it Nathaniel Bassey or anyone else.
Dig into their past.
They are hiding something.A Resurrected Body Of Christ doesnt need the Protection of Men.

I disagree on Nathaniel Bassey’s point 4. Church elders shouldn’t be settling a crime case, but the state. They can settle moral cases not crime cases.
— Abimbola (@bimbolababs) July 1, 2019
Nathaniel Bassey has refused to confront the rape issue and accept what’s clear. Biodun Fatoyinbo committed a crime against the state. We judge him by the law of the land not the word of God.
The worst part is that Nathaniel Bassey legit called this rape issue a “family matter” https://t.co/MVlfKvcoQ9
— Ugonnia (@AustinYugo) July 1, 2019
For sometime I have been wondering what the scripture says about the whole issue, but today Nathaniel Bassey made me feel I haven’t even scratched the Bible enough. You will be shocked!!! to know the depth and how all this is stated in the Bible.

Pastor @nathanielblow Nathaniel Bassey And Wisdom! (And by wisdom I don’t mean the wisdom of men and philosophies of life but that eternal “never passing away” Wisdom of the foundation of the word of God)
You can never be Misquoted when you quote the Word. #Nathanielbassey

Now I realized what Freeze meant when he called Nathaniel Bassey a fraud, during his midnight IG shii!
Who calls a rape allegation “Family Matter.” ?

What’s the problem with Nathaniel Bassey view on this rape case from biblical angle that atheist and christain hypocrites are pounding on him. Just need an explanation from the critics and haters, am all ears. Before you do, read the bible verses well. Thanks pic.twitter.com/AMTipTMDC3

Pastor Nathaniel Bassey really dropped some gems on how believer should respond to what has been going on. I have been convicted.
— Temitayo (@TemiToh_Joy) July 1, 2019
Some so called Christian believers joining unbelievers and atheist can’t say nothing after Nathaniel Bassey comment
— Olabanji Oluwaseun (@TALLASHIP) July 1, 2019
If you don’t understand what ministry entails, SHUT UP! Do you think pastors will join your SM rants. Pastors aren’t keyboard bandits/mobs like you. Nathaniel Bassey is right. The pastors must address issues in the light of the Scriptures. You don’t have to agree with them.

I knew Nathaniel Bassey would trend on this app today because of his view (based on the scripture).
Yes, everyone has a right to their opinion but calling him a scam because of the Hallelujah challenge is just low.— Ms. Pauline (@oghenepauline) July 1, 2019
Nathaniel Bassey’s response is quite reflective of how a lot of Nigerians seem not to remember that rape is a crime, just like murder and armed robbery, you won’t call it a family matter if you get kidnapped by a christian.
— Jagua Naro (@Jaguaanana) July 1, 2019
Nathaniel bassey just repeated what I said two days ago. It is utter foolishness for two professing Christians to go to courts. It’s against the covenant, and a sin against the body of christ of which Christ is the head

In a bid not to piss anyone off, I want someone to point out what’s wrong in what Nathaniel Bassey said. Because honestly, I can’t see it. pic.twitter.com/kTyI1ILsiS
— No one (@ilynem) July 1, 2019
All there Atheists on this app have been empowered there last few days. Imagine calling Nathaniel Bassey a fraud for giving a Bible-inclined solution to all these.
— Barney F (@BarneyF17) July 1, 2019
This people don’t want the truth, justice or even sense. They just want to lynch, stone or crucify everybody. Christianity is not a mob! Mercy will prevail for all not a mob crucifixion or a stoning. So please stop condemning Poju Oyemade or Nathaniel Bassey.
— Josh King (@royaljosh) July 1, 2019
If this is why Most of y’all on this App are dragging Pastor Nathaniel Bassey and calling him a fraud then our generation is in trouble. The man Spoke from a biblical perspective see sometimes take your time to read and understand things. Stop jumping on tweets like a fool pic.twitter.com/oX86ZEtlm5
