Customs kill one smuggler in Ogun
Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service believed to be from the Federal Operations Unit, Ikeja on Tuesday allegedly shot and killed a smuggler around Tollgate end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Sango-Ota, Ogun State.
It was gathered that the operatives of the NCS had pursued the smugglers to the Tollgate, and there was a clash, which resulted in shooting.
And in the process, our correspondent gathered, one of the smugglers was shot dead.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident.
He said, “I learnt there was a clash this morning between smugglers and the operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit Ikeja.
“The clash happened at the Tollgate end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and one of the smugglers was killed in the clash.
“Policemen from Sango-Ota police station and Alagbado in Lagos were drafted to the scene to restore law and order.”
