Two allegedly killed as Customs, Sarki indigenes clash
On Thursday, some officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Oyo/Osun Command clashed with some residents of Saki in Oyo State.
The clas, it is alleged claimed no fewer than two lives.
It was gathered that on Thursday night that a customs officer and another resident of Saki lost their lives during the clash.
Our correspondent gathered that the clash started when Customs officers allegedly chased a Saki indigene alleged to be a smuggler into the town.
The alleged smuggler was said to have died in the process.
The death of the alleged smuggler, it was gathered made some individuals in the town to attack the Customs office.
A customs officer was said to have been killed during the attack on the Customs office in the town.
During the attack, a vehicle belonging to the Customs service was burnt.
Public Relations Officer of the Oyo/Osun Command of NCS, Mr Abdullah Lagos confirmed the incident.
Lagos in a chat with newsmen on Thursday night said that he was aware of the incident, but yet to confirm what really happened.
He said:
“We travelled with the Comptroller today, that is why I had no chance.
“We heard about the incident but we are yet to confirm what really happened. But all our officers are safe.
“But the mob burnt our Customs Hilux and a vehicle at our base in Saki.”
