Nigeria songwriter and artiste, Harrison Tare Okiri, better known by his stage name Harrysong, on Friday, shocked fans and non-fans after a post on his Instagram page.

The Ofeshe crooner in the post told Nigerians not to cry for him when he dies, bringing back memories of the deceased artiste, Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun, also known as Dagrin.

Harrysong wrote on Instagram:

Don’t cry when I die, celebrate, put up a kingmaker concert, empower more youths, I have Lived, I have done my bit, carry on in grace… TEKERO❤ I LOVE YOU ALL.#altersoldier

Fans remembered Dagrin, who died on 22 April 2010, made a similar statement in his song “If I Die” prior to the accident that claimed his life.

The AlterPlate Records boss talking about his death and how he should be celebrated sparked fears among his fans. Commenters on his post are begging his friends to quickly reach out to him, given the increase in suicide in the country at present.

A commenter, @egbuka, wondered if Harrysong was joking. He advised the singer to take whatever was troubling him to God.

Please if it’s a joke stop it now, no matter what you’re going through there’s a God heaven that you can talk to bro. Please I don’t want you to die now and you will not die an untimely death in Jesus name Amen @iamharrysong
