Police in Anambra has arrested four suspects for murder, robbery and motorcycle snatching in Idemili and Njikoka areas of the state.

SP Haruna Mohammed, the Police command’s Public Relations Officer in the state made the disclosure in a statement to newsmen on Sunday in Awka.

The statement listed the murder/robbery suspects as Chimezie Aronu, 22, Uchenna Obiora, 18, and Chibuike Omankwu aged 20 years.

The statement gave the name of the suspected motorcycle snatcher as one Chidioke Chinedu arrested by police operatives at Njikoka area on Jan. 10.

The PPRO noted that on Jan.12 at about 4am, following intelligence report, police operatives attached to the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad (FSARS) Awkuzu arrested the three murder/robbery suspects at Ire village, Ogidi in Idemili North area.

He stated that the suspects had on Jan.11, 2019 allegedly robbed and killed one Ifeanyi Nwanga in Ifite Dunu community at about 4:30 pm with gun.

“The suspects have confessed to the crime and also led the Police to the place where they hid the weapon used in perpetrating the dastardly act,” he stated.

According to the statement, exhibits recovered from the suspects include one cut to size single barrel gun and one cartridge.

Mohammed said that the case was currently under investigation after which suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.

The police spokesperson further disclosed that on Jan.10 at about 8:45 am, following intelligence report, police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Cult unit arrested Chinedu of Enugu Ukwu in Njikoka.

“The suspect was arrested with a stolen motorbike which himself and his gang members previously robbed from their victim,” he said.

He said that the case was under investigation and effort was ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices in order to bring them to Justice.
