Writing on Facebook, Nwaenie said,

“My attention has been drawn to the trending story about a purported conferment of a chieftaincy title on Davido.
~ Uwolo Amaechi Nwaenie.

For the avoidance of doubt, l want to state that l was a guest at Chief Barrister Fred Ajudua’s (Onwa) residence on his invitation to host his son’s best friend – Davido.

I had no prior knowledge of planned event for the day until i got to Onwa’s residence. While in his residence, Onwa said he wanted to adopt Davido into the Ajudua’s family to straighten the strong friendship between his son Bobo and Dacido. I recall someone jokingly asked Onwa if he wanted to ”give chieftaincy title to Davido’ to which Onwa said a categorical No.

As the Uwolo of Ibuzor, l cannot knowingly offend our cultural sensibility or be a party to any act likely to desecrate, denigrate or offend lbuzor tradition in any way, shape or form. What happened today in Chief Bar Fred Ajudua’s residence was an adoption into the family of the Ajudua and definitely not a conferment of chieftaincy title. Any misconception or misunderstanding of the process is highly regretted. It was a great day of friendship and celebration between two great families and calls for measured reaction from those who relied strictly on social media videos and pictures.

Long live Ibuzor

Buhari, Trump are two 'clueless' presidents, Wizkid says

Nigerian Singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has joked that the only difference between the President Muhammadu Buhari and U.S. Donald Trump, is their ability to use Twitter.

The ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner’s message comes after following the extra-judicial killings by the police in the two countries.

Recall that a black man identified as George Floyd was recently killed in the US by an officer of the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD).

Floyd’s death came amid dust over the alleged killing of Tina, a 16-year-old girl, at Iyana Oworo area of Lagos, by an officer of the Nigerian police.

The 29-year-old took to his Twitter page to lend his voice to condemn police brutality.

“Police is kill black Americans and Nigerian police kill Nigerians. No man can sort this matter. God save us,” he had written on Saturday.

In a follow-up post on Monday, the award-winning singer said the inability of the two leaders to contain the killing of innocent citizens by security operatives was indicative of how “clueless” both of them are.

“Buhari and Trump are same person. Lol. The one different between them is that one knows how to use Twitter than the other. Clueless!,” Wizkid wrote in a mixture of Pidgin and English.

He wrote, “Buhari/Trump same person lol only difference be say one sabi use twitter pass the other. Clueless!.”

The University of Ilorin management says its radio, 89.3FM has trained some Primary school pupils on methods of anchoring special live broadcasts on the radio.

According to the University of Ilorin Bulletin issued on Monday, the training is part of its sustained effort to promote the community service mandate of the University to its environment.

The publication stated that the children were drawn from various schools within the Tanke Community of Ilorin, the University’s immediate host community.

It stated that the pupils were trained and made to handle most of the routine programmes of the radio station for the day.

“Among the scheduled programmes handled by the pupils were the station’s daily newspaper review programme tagged “Top Highlight”, the various day’s news bulletins in English.

“Also ‘Wednesday Giveaway on Radio’ an audience phone-in programme in which callers win various gift items; as well as Children’s Variety, a discussion programme in which children-related issues were discussed”.

The publication said that at the end of the programmes, the children expressed satisfaction and happiness for having the opportunity to broadcast live on radio.

“They said that the opportunity has ignited the urge in some of them to pursue a career in the journalism profession, especially the broadcast aspect.

“Speaking on behalf of others, Samuel Jato of St. Joseph College, Ilorin, appreciated the management of Unilorin FM for the opportunity given to them to have the first time and professional experience in broadcasting.

“Jato stated that his love for radio has increased while his inquisitiveness to know what is talking on radio means has also been satisfied,” it said.

The publication added that other children who also participated in the special Children’s Day broadcast were Olatundun Olawuyi from Hillspring Montessori School, Tanke; and Adekunle Quadri from C & S College, Sabo Oke, Ilorin.

“Addressing the children after their radio programmes, the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr. Kunle Akogun, stated that the management of the radio station designed the special Children’s Day programme as part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities obligation to the University’s immediate host community.

“He added that this is to identify with the children who are the leaders of tomorrow.

“Akogun pointed out that the programme is also a means of identifying the talents of the kid-participants toward assisting them to make a viable career choice early in life,” it said.

Akogun also advised the children to face their studies squarely and plan adequately for their future.

“He also advised them to set realistic goals for themselves, a situation which he said will make them focus more on result-oriented programmes on radio and television rather than just watching movies and listening to frivolous programmes.

“Also speaking, the Ag. Station Manager of Unilorin FM, Mr. Idris Alooma, appreciated the Director of Corporate Affairs, for his prompt approval of the special Children’s Day programme on the radio station when it was proposed to him.

“Alooma, however, advised primary and secondary schools in Kwara to establish press clubs in their various schools, which he said will enhance the student’s learning process and bring the positive aspect of the society closer to them in their various schools”.
