Former heavyweight boxing champion, Wladimir Klitschko announced his retirement from the sport on Thursday.

What readily comes to the minds of many Nigerians when the Ukrainian’s name is mentioned is his last fight in April 2017. There, the 41-year-old was stopped by British Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua in the 11th round of the WBA title bout at Wembley Stadium in London.

The fight is one of the very few losses the champion suffered during his career.

Out of his total 69 fights, he won 64 and lost only five. 53 of the wins were by knockout.
