DEFECTIONS! Saraki absent as Buhari meets with APC senators

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, was conspicuously absent when President Muhammadu Buhari met with 39 Senators elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday.

The meeting which was held less 24 hours after 14 senators previously in the APC defected to the rival Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday.

The meeting took place at First Lady conference room of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Angered by the siege laid on his residence and that of his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, by security operatives on Monday, Saraki refused to attend the meeting.

Wuzup Naija gathered that the meeting was to discuss the defections from the APC and address the grievances of the lawmakers.

Senior Lanre Tejuosho, a surprise attendee after he had told his colleagues that he has returned home after announcing his defection from the party on Tuesday.

Led by Senate Leader Ahmad Lawan,, the 42 present included Adamu Aleiro, Bala Ibn Na-Allah, Aliyu Wamako, Ibrahim Gobir, Kabiru Marafa, Abu Ibrahim, Kabiru Gaya, Barau Jibrin, Abdullahi Gumel, Shehu Sani, Ahmed Lawan, Ali Ndume, Abubakar Kyari, Baba Kaka Garbai, Aliyu Abdullahi, David Umaru, and Abdullahi Adamu.

Also present were George Akume, Francis Alimekhina, Andrew Uchendu, Magnus Abe, Ovie Omo-Agege, John Enoh, Nelson Effiong, Andy Uba, Sunny Ugboji, Hope Uzodinma, Ben Uwajimogu, Yusuf Yusuf, Oluremi Tinubu, Gbenga Ashafa, Solomon Adeola, Tayo Alasoadura, , Soji Akanbi, Ajayi Boroface, Yele Omogunwa, Fatima Rasaki, and Yahaya Abdullahi.
