Designer puts nude models on runway at Copenhagen Fashion Week

Published

Just when you thought you have seen it all, a new one comes up. That was the case at the Copenhagen Fashion Week recently.

Danish fashion designer, Nicholas Nybro decided to showcase the human body, instead of latest designs the designer sent nude models down the runway at the fashion show.

Nybro said the show was a ‘tribute to the human body’, and there was certainly nothing left to the imagination.
Both men and women strutted down the catwalk completely naked, while one model went topless wearing a frothy tutu style skirt.

According to the designer the sight of naked skin was not intended to be provocative, but was meant to be a reminder that everyone is beautiful before they put their clothes on – a fact sometimes forgotten by the fashion industry, DailyMail reported.

In another departure from tradition, Nybo chose normal people who were not the epitome of physical perfection usually seen on the catwalk to bravely bare all.

The designer later shared his reason for sending in nude models along with models wearing his 2018 summer collection.

“We have become so timid and afraid to show our bodies and display what is underneath the clothes, which should be so natural,” Nybro told Stuff.

“My collection is, therefore, a tribute to the human body and its thousands of different ways of looking – something that constantly changes throughout life.

“My wish is that my collection and the show will start a debate about body ideals in the fashion industry, and I hope the show can spark a conversation about how clothes can also be beautiful on ordinary people with diverse bodies.”
