DESPITE OWANBE & JOLLOF RICE! Nigeria is the 5th happiest country in Africa
Nigeria may be the most populated in Africa, but his citizens are not the happiest on the continent.
This is according to the United Nations annual 2018 World Happiness Report which named Mauritius the happiest country in Africa, rated Burundi the saddest country on the continent.
The report ranked 156 countries by their happiness levels, based on factors including life expectancy, social freedom, the absence of corruption and migration within and between countries.
Nigeria, which prides itself on its Owanbe parties, food, social media memes, comedians and – most importantly – its Jollof Rice, ranks a distant fifth behind Mauritius, war-torn Libya, Algeria and Morocco respectively.
Somalia, Cameroon, Gabon, South Africa and Ivory Coast are ranked 6th to 10th happiest countries in Africa respectively.
