DJ Khaled to donate ‘Higher’ proceeds to late Nipsey Hussle’s children
American DJ Khaled Mohamed a.k.a ‘DJ Khaled’ set to donate all the proceeds from his collaboration song the ‘Higher’ with late Nipsey Hussle to his children
DJ Khaled made this known in his Instagram handle @djkhaled, where he disclosed his decision to honour late slain rapper Hussle by giving his children ( Kross Asghedom and Emani Asghedom)100% proceeds.
Khaled wrote:
“Recently, I embarked on a soul-searching journey down a road I never thought I would travel in a million years.
“It began when a tragedy robbed the world of an enlightened soul, a brother, a father, a partner and my friend, Nipsey Hussle.
“Just days prior, he shared his energy and positivity with me on a video set for a song called “Higher.”
” After much prayer and reflection; and with the full blessing of the Asghedom family, I am sharing that moment with the world.
” The very title of the son reminds us that vibrating on a “Higher” level was the essence of Nipsey’s soul.
“It is in his spirit, of moving forward, of persevering his mission that I, my co-writer, producers and label partnera are donating 100% of all our proceeds from “Higher” to Nipsey’s children, Emani and Kross.
Khaled was releasing his highly anticipated 11th studio album “Father of Asahd” before Nipsey’s untimely death.
According to him, they were in the studio together to record their collaborative track “Higher”.
“Higher” will be released this Friday alongside other tracks on DJ Khaled’s album.
Khaled first gained prominence as a radio host in the 1990s, whereby after moving to Miami, he hosted the show “99 Jamz” on urban music radio station WEDR.
The show popularity later prompted hip hop group Terror Squad to hire Khaled as the DJ for their live performances.
After gaining some production credits on the group’s material, Khaled then transitioned into curating albums.
Then he released his debut studio album Listennn… the Album in 2006, which earned gold certification.
In 2015 and early 2016, Khaled gained worldwide attention as a media personality and subsequently attained a large following on social media.
Khaled has also gained success as a writer with his book and his Keys featuring on the New York Times Best Seller list.
He has also featured as an actor, starring in Spies in Disguise (2019) and is due to appear in Bad Boys for Life (2020).
