Doubts surround presidential, national assembly elections as INEC calls emergency meeting
The Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] has summoned an emergency meeting over contending issues challenging the commission’s plan to hold the presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday.
The move appears has created uncertainty over tomorrow’s Presidential and National Assembly election.
INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, is currently meeting with stakeholders, including international and local observers.
According to Punch Newspaper, sources close to the commission confided in our correspondents that the commission is discussing the possibility of shifting the date of the election over logistics problems.
An insider said some reasons were being tabled before the stakeholders by the commission as possible reasons why the election might be shifted.
