Drama unfolds as released pigeon lands on Zamfara CP’s head

Published

There was a melodrama in Gusau Zamfara state capital today when one of the white pigeons released during this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration surprisingly landed on the head of the State Police Commissioner, Usman Nagoggo.

The pigeon was among many pigeons released at the occasion by the Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Bala Bello Maru who represented Governor Matawalle to signify that peace has returned in the state, but immediately it flew off, it landed directly on the head of the Police commissioner.

On seeing this surprising thing, the whole crowd bursted into uncontrollable and joyful laughter, clapping their hands and continued hailing the Police commissioner, saying that, he was really the icon of peace since the pigeon decided to land on his head.

The commissioner too could not hide his joy when he also bursted into laughter and began to wave the cheering crowd.

Many people who spoke on the issue described the scene as a symbol of the commissioner’s untiring efforts towards achieving lasting peace in the state.

The Chief Protocol to the Emir of Gusau,  Alhaji Abdulkadir wondered how the pigeon decided to land on the head of the Police commissioner, describing the action as a great coincidence of the year.

“This is the great coincidence of the year, because the release of the white pigeon symbolises peace, while its action also symbolises that the Police commissioner is an instrument of peace”.

When the Police Commissioner was asked by our reporter to comment on this melodrama, CP Nagoggo only waved his hand and laughed.

The commissioner however explained that, he would continue to fight the insurgency in the state as long as he remained the police Commissioner.

CP Nagoggo said his Command has mapped out strategies to effectively tackle the recalcitrant bandits who were yet to surrender and embrace peace process.

“We will fight them if they choose not to surrender and by the grace of God we will succeed”.
