Published

The First Lady of Kwara, Mrs Olufolake AbdulRazaq, has congratulated Christians on Easter, urging them to demonstrate love and selflessness.

This is contained in her Easter message signed by her Chief Press Secretary, Mr Adeyinka Adeniyi, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Sunday.

AbdulRazaq charged Christians to promote the virtues of selflessness, love, piety and tolerance.

She said that families may not be able to celebrate as they wanted because of the lockdown owing to COVID-19, however, she enjoined everyone to look inward and pray for a new dawn, one free of disease.

“This period of celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ should be a period of reflection on the teachings and lessons of the celebration by promoting the virtues of selflessness, love, piety and tolerance.

“These are trying times no doubt, with the global outbreak of Coronavirus which necessitated government’s shutdown of activities, including places of worship to curb the spread of the disease.

“I urge us all to be selfless and be our brother’s keepers, families will not be able to celebrate in the usual manner due to the lockdown
necessitated by the outbreak of COVID-19.

“I, however, enjoin everyone to look inward and pray for a new dawn, one free of disease in our land.

“I equally enjoin us to put into practice the lessons of Easter, we should also ardently support in the fight against COVID-19 by adhering to all advisories to keep us safe, happy Easter to you all,” the message read in part.
