EFCC to hand over another N220 million recovered loot to Kwara government
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that it has got another N220 million recovered loot from Politicians and Civil Servants ready to be handed over to Kwara state.
Head of Ilorin zone of EFCC, Mr Ishyaku Sharu disclosed this on Tuesday to Barrister Salman Jawondo, Kwara state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice who led Senior Officials of the state Ministry of Justice on a courtesy call to the office of the anti graft agency.
Sharu who said that the EFCC would continue to fight corruption in its efforts to sanitize the system urged the Attorney General to work with the Commission to salvage the system and bring sanity back to the country.
Sharu said, “We told his Excellency the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq during the last Nigerian Youth walk against corruption that we have recovered the sum of two hundred million naira for the State Government, as it is today, we have additional twenty million naira making it the total sum of two hundred and twenty million naira ready for collection.
“We also have not less than seven properties and some exotic cars which have been finally forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria, these were recovered from both Politicians and Civil Servants in the state”, he said.
The EFCC zonal head also said that the agency was also investigating another alleged N3 billion fraud in the operation light up Kwara executed by the immediate past administration in the state.
It would be recalled that the EFCC handed over the sum of N111 million recovered looted fund to the state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in October 2019 which the governor said would be invested in the state social service.
The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Jawondo had earlier commended the Ilorin Zonal Office of EFCC for huge recovery of monies for the State Government.

According to Jawondo, ” I think the EFCC is wonderful, Let me appreciate you and this Office on behalf of the Kwara State Government for all the monies and properties, we have seen your achievements and they are commendable.
” It is important that we are on the same page with the EFCC, we must relate as Colleagues, I thought we should have this gathering , we’ll cooperate with you to achieve your mandate, I want the EFCC to feel at home because we are going to make your job easier”, he promised.
