Ekiti govt reveals when it would pay workers’ salary
The Ekiti state government has disclosed that it will begin the part payment of workers’ salary from the N1.3bn federal government loan.
The Ekiti commissioner for Information, Lanre Ogunsuyi told newsmen that Ekiti workers’ salary will be paid this week because that is the priority of the Governor Ayodele Fayose administration.
Ogunsuyi said: “We are going to use the ‘Budget Adjustment Support facility’ to pay backlog of workers salaries. That is what it will be mainly used for. It is even not enough to clear the arrears. The workers will be paid this week because that is topmost on our priority for now.”
In response to the government’s promise, Bunmi Ajimoko, the state president of Nigeria union of local government employees, expressed the hopes that the state government will use it for what is intended.
He complained that workers are passing through a difficult times due to the failure of the state government to pay salaries.
