Elections: Vote buying ongoing at Sagamu [Video]

As the governorship and state assembly elections are underway across the country, vote buying is reportedly ongoing at Ward 15 Unit 1, at Sagamu, in Ogun state.

Our correspondent observed that voters wrote their names on a register with their voter cards after which they are paid between N1,000 and N2,000.

The voters were asked to vote for candidates of a particular party (Allied Peoples Movement).

Our correspondent also observed as argument broke out among some of the voters, who alleged that they were being cheated for not being paid the approved N2,000.

“Other parties are also doing this. They are paying their voters N2,000. It is not fair we are being cheated,” a voter was heard saying.

At a point, the woman sharing the money was advised to leave the corner because the money she was sharing could finish any moment.

Our correspondent also noted that as soon as the voters collected the crisp notes, they joined the queue.

Some of the voters were accused of cheating because they moved from one unit to another, taking money from agents.
