A Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced a 25-year-old Disc Jockey (DJ), Emmanuel Nelson, to eight months imprisonment for stealing a N65,000 Ipad. Nelson is a popular DJ in the Abuja environs.  The presiding officer, Alhaji Mohammed Ado, gave Nelson an option of N8, 000 fine, and warned him to desist from committing crimes.

The convict, who resides at Kado Kuchi Village, Abuja, was convicted on the two-count charge of criminal trespass and stealing preferred against him.

Nelson, who had pleaded guilty to the charges, urged the court to temper justice with mercy as his action was motivated by the desire to enhance his work. Prosecutor Judith Obatomi had told the court that Benedith Akuh, also of Kado Kuchi Village, had reported the matter at the Mabushi Police Station, Abuja, on June 5.
Obatomi said the complainant reported that sometime in October 2015, Nelson, a neighbour, broke into his room and stole his ipad valued N65, 000.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
