EPL: Arteta, Ancelotti watch from the stands as Arsenal, Everton play goalless draw
New Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti and Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, appointed on Friday, watched from the stands as the sides played out an uneventful goalless draw at Goodison Park.
The Toffees announced the appointment of Ancelotti on a four-and-a-half-year contract before kick-off, and he and Arteta will officially take charge of their respective teams on Sunday.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang went closest to a breakthrough early in the second half, but the Gunners forward’s far-post effort was palmed over the crossbar by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
The result lifts the Toffees up a place to 15th, while Arsenal climb to ninth.
