Liverpool have completed the signing of Spanish international Adrian San Miguel del Castillo known simply as Adrian from West Ham.

The goalkeeper was available for free, having been released by West Ham and he replaces Simon Mignolet at Anfield, who has joined Club Brugge.

“I’m very ambitious, I came here to try to win everything, to try to push [Alisson] from the first minute and to make us better,” the 32-year-old said.

“Obviously I want to win titles. I come here to fight for all the competitions. We have many competitions ahead – we’re going to fight for it and try to get them.

“I’m looking forward to playing my first game at Anfield and to win as many games as we can.”

Meanwhile, Mignolet who joined the Reds in 2013, but lost his starting place following the arrival of Alisson last summer, has returned to Belgium to join Club Brugge on a six-year deal.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had nothing but kind words for the Belgium international.

He told Liverpoolfc.com:

“If you were to ask me to write a list of the most standout professionals I’ve worked with in the game – in a career of well over 30 years – Simon Mignolet would be competing for the number one spot.

“The respect he commands in our dressing room is unrivalled. An outstanding athlete, an outstanding person and an international-class keeper.
