Well-meaning Nigerians have begun to worry about the recurring crash of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and have expressed concerns over the safety of innocent passengers.

Ethiopian Airlines flight Boeing 737 MAX 8 model crashed on Sunday killing all 157 people on board.

It’s the second time in less than six months that a new Boeing aircraft crashed just minutes into a flight.

After the unfortunate incident, China, Indonesia, Ethiopian Airlines and Cayman Airways on Monday grounded the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft over safety concerns.

Worried by this development, Nigerians took to Twitter to express their fears over reports that Nigerian carrier, Air Peace made a deal with the US-based airline manufacturer, Boeing, to buy 10 of the Boeing 737 MAX 8.

Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, had announced in last September that the order would arrive “very soon.”

Nigerians are however not sure if the airline had taken delivery of any of the ordered aircraft yet, generating panic over the safety of flying the local airline.

The Head of Media and Communications of the London School of Economic (LSE) Africa Summit, Gimba Kakanda (@gimbakakanda) tweeted:

“Reports say that Nigeria’s Air Peace acquired 10 Boeing 737 Max 8, and now that airlines all over the world are suspending the services of the aircraft, has Air Peace said a word yet? Our aviation regular must step in and join the world in responding to this shock from Ethiopia.”

Recall that an Indonesian Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 flight crashed last October, killing all 189 people on board.
