Ethiopian Airlines crash: Prof. Adesanmi’s wife reportedly breaks news of his death to their little daughter [Photo]

With a heavy heart and a mixture of great courage, Mrs. Muyiwa Adesanmi has reportedly broken the news of the death of Prof Pius to their little daughter, Tise.

This was revealed by one, Akintunde Akinleye, in a Facebook post which has gone viral.

“When Tise wished you an angelic goodbye, Prof… A courageous woman, your friend, your wife held back all her pains…to break this news to Tise! I am so humbled by this courage!!!!” the Facebook posts reads.”

WuzupNaija had earlier reported that the late Nigerian Canadain based scholar was one of the 157 victims of the Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed shortly after take-off on Sunday.

A professor at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, Adesanmi was on his way to a meeting of the African Union’s Economic, Social, and Cultural Council in Nairobi.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, carrying 149 passengers and eight crew members, lost contact with air traffic controllers six minutes after taking off on its way to Nairobi, Kenya.

It crashed near Bishoftu, southeast of the Ethiopian capital, Ethiopian Airlines said in a statement.

Pius flew on a Canadian passport which he posted on Facebook on Saturday morning.

In 2001, Adesanmi’s first book, The Wayfarer and Other Poems, won the Association of Nigerian Authors’ Poetry Prize.

In 2010, his book You’re not a Country, Africa (Penguin Books, 2011), a collection of essays, won the inaugural Penguin Prize for African Writing in the nonfiction category.

In 2017, Adesanmi was a recipient of Canada Bureau of International Education Leadership Award.
