Everton reject €100m bid from Barcelona for Richarlison

Published

Everton have turned down an offer of €100m (£85m) from Barcelona for Brazilian striker Richarlison.

Everton rejected the offer immediately, unwilling to sell one of their prized assets as they look to strengthen their squad – rather than deplete it.

Richarlison is a long-standing target of Barca’s sporting director Eric Abidal, who enquired about the 22-year-old’s availability last summer but saw those advances knocked back.

The Brazil international moved to Goodison Park from Watford in 2018 and has impressed again this term.

Richarlison has scored 10 times this season and has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

But Barca have made their move, launching an incredible £85m (€100m) offer to take him to the Nou Camp.

Sky Sports report Everton immediately rejected the offer and rank Richarlison as one of their prized assets.

The Toffees are keen to strengthen their squad in the final days of the window rather than lose players.

Richarlison only signed a new long-term deal in December, keeping him at Goodison Park until 2024.

Barca are keen to bring in attacking reinforcements this month with Luis Suarez out for the remainder of the season through injury.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had been a primary target with his Arsenal deal having 18 months to run.

But Barca accepted they would struggle to land the Gabon striker this month with Arsenal determined to keep hold of him.

The La Liga giants have also held talks with Valencia over a swoop for Spain striker Rodrigo.

Everton return to action at Richarlison’s former club Watford on Saturday as they look to climb up the Premier League table.
