Examination: Foundation organizes classes for indigent students in Nasarawa

A Nasarawa based NGO, Oveysha Foundation, has organized extra moral classes for indigent students to prepare them for the final year school examinations in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

Mr Ovey Bashayi, the Founder of the organization, stated this at the inauguration of the exercise on Friday in Akwaga.

Bashayi disclosed that the exercise was designed to prepare candidates sitting for the Senior School Examination Certificate (SSCE); National Examination Council (NECO), and Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination Board (JAMB).

He said the exercise also focused at imparting relevant knowledge and expose them to the rules and regulations to enable them excel in their examinations.

“This is also to complement government efforts to improve on the standard of education.

“The foundation is geared towards touching lives of the less privileged in the society thereby improving on the standard of education.

“I want to call you to be serious during the lesson in order to pass the examinations,’’ he said, and called on the students to shun examination malpractices to enable them further their education.

He reiterated the commitment of the organisation to initiate viable programmes for the overall development of the people.

Also speaking, Mr Samuel Meshi, the Chairman of the local council, urged the students to pay attention to their studies.

Meshi, who was represented by Robo Sunday, the Supervisory Councilor of Education, pledged support to the exercise.

“The council will continue to support programmes to achieve sustainable development in the education sector,’’ he said.

He further called on stakeholders to contribute to the positive development of education sector in the state.

On his part, Mr Adamude Abubakar, the Principal, Government Secondary School, Akwanga Central, also promised to provide enabling  environment to facilitate smooth conduct of the exercise.
