The birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle baby boy has garnered over 48.7k comments on the official Instagram account of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Like many notable personalities, the proud parents shared the exciting news to their 5.8million followers which was launched on April 2.

WuzupNaija notes that the post has over 1 million likes as of the time of reporting.

The name of the baby boy will be announced in due course.

The post which didn’t have the photo of the new baby read; “We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.

“The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.”

The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is an American retired actress who became a member of the British royal family upon her marriage to Prince Harry.

Markle was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and has a mixed ethnic heritage.
