In what can be described as extreme punishment, employees of a home improvement business in south-western China were forced to drink urine, eat cockroaches and beaten with belts as punishment for failing to meet sales targets.

The “repulsive” incident which occurred in Zunyi city in Guizhou province, was captured on video and leaked to social media site Weibo last week, China Youth Daily reports.

Fortunately, three managers of a company have been detained by the police.

In the video, which has been deleted, a topless man can be seen standing in the middle of a room. As he was being whipped with a belt by another man, other people stood around him and watched. The video also showed staff drinking cups of yellow liquid, which is reportedly urine.

Also, managers of the firm were discovered threatening staff via text messages. These contained threats of different kinds of punishment if they failed to meet the firm’s sales targets.
