Family demands justice for trado-medical doctor killed, manhood cut off in Nasarawa

Published

My diligence and incorruptible stance earned me respect, fame, even after retirement- Ex-CSP Oyebade reveals

The family of a 55-year-old trado-medical doctor, Henry Obatenuh, are demanding justice for his murder.

Obatenuh was allegedly killed by one Collins Adodokome and his son in Masaka, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Wednesday.

They were also alleged to have cut off his penis.

WuzupNigeria reports that Adodokome had accused the deceased of sleeping with his wife, Evelyn.

Adodokome, his son and another accomplice – a security guard – are being detained at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia.

WuzupNigeria reports that Adodokome had sued Obatenuh with the police and eventually taken him to court some years ago and the deceased was kept in custody for some weeks before being released and asked to sign an undertaken to desist from having any further affair with Evelyn.

The suspect was said to have confessed to the crime, alleging that his son caught the deceased having sexual intercourse with his wife on his matrimonial bed.

“The wife escaped and Adodokome’s son engaged the late Obatenuh in a fight and he eventually killed him. He later chopped his penis off out of anger,” said one of the sources.

The source disclosed further that Adodokome claimed that the killing had been done before he arrived at the scene and he promptly walked into Masaka Police Station to report the matter.

He said the body of the victim was moved to Uke General Hospital mortuary, even as the police continue with investigation.

But the family of the victim is not convinced with the explanation on the cause of his death.

They are pleading for an in-depth investigation by the police to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing of their father.

Quoting the deceased’s first son, Courage Obatenuh, The Tribune reported that the family was asking for justice in the murder of their father who he claimed was set up and killed by Adodokome and his son.

“We vehemently speak against the perpetrators of this heinous act and we demand a very thorough investigation by the police so that justice will be truly served,” he said.

Courage, who said was with his father the night before the incident, explained that at about 9.00 p.m., as he was about to serve his father food, he quickly went out after receiving a call.

“As I was about to serve him food, I met him on the phone. He then told me he was going out to get something. He left without eating. I waited for hours for him to return until I slept off,” he stated.

Courage said that the next day, he sensed that something was amiss when he discovered that his father did not return home and his phone line was not connecting.

He said as he was about to leave the house to search for his dad two policemen met him outside the house and asked if he was Courage.

He said on confirming his identity to them, they told him to come with them to the station and on arrival at the Masaka Division Police Station, he saw his father lying face down in a pool of blood with a machete cut.

According to him, no immediate explanation was offered as to the cause of his father’s death.

Courage, who was flanked by other relatives and friends of the victim, accused the suspects of trying to use the police to justify the killing of his father.

“The same police that are charged with protecting the citizens of the country are trying to twist the matter. Our questions are: where is the adulterous woman they claimed they caught my father having sex with? How come she escaped and my father was caught and brutally killed and his manhood cut off? Did the woman escape naked, because they claimed they were caught in the act?

“Where is his phone for us to verify the last call he received before leaving the house and eventually getting murdered? This and many more questions we demand answers to.

“Nothing should be swept under the carpet. We demand justice. We also want the perpetrators to be brought to book. We are begging the police to unravel the truth of this matter and see to it that justice is served,” he said.

When our correspondent visited the home of Mr Adodokome within the same axis, he met a young man who told him that Evelyn was still on the run.

According to the man, the woman is taking refuge in her daughter’s house at a location in Mararaba Karu.

Efforts to get her number were futile and calls put through to her daughter’s phone line were not answered.

Why you should stop patronizing baby factories, Nigerian doctor explains

Published

on

A Nigerian doctor has warned against patronizing baby factories in the name of miracle pregnancy as she shared an experience with a patient she met recently.

According to @Dr_Nwaneki, she met a couple who have been trying to have a child for eight years but were referred to one “madam china” in Ozubulu, Anambra state.

She revealed that the woman was placed on a monthly injection and warned not to go for scan.

Explaining what the baby factory owners were trying to achieve, the doctor wrote;

“Stop Patronizing Baby factories in the name of Miracle/Posterior/Hidden pregnancy! I met this lady in clinic some weeks ago. She complained she’s not feeling her baby’s kicks at all at 7 months. While taking history, I discovered she had been duped.

The couple had not been able to conceive for 8 years. So she was referred to one ‘madam China’ in Ozubulu Anambra State. She was charged an initial amount of 450k, to pay 350k when the process was over. She was placed on some monthly injections and warned not to go for scan.

After much probing, I did an ultrasound scan of her abdomen. When she saw her womb was empty, she went berserk. When she was done wailing, we counseled her and placed her on some meds to return her menses.

Here’s what these criminals do: The moment you pay, the get one of their ‘baby machines’ pregnant. They pump you with hormones that block your menses and warn you not to go for scan elsewhere. The Hypnosis, fear and false hope messes your mind up, and your tummy begins to swell.

After 9 months, their factory must have delivered, they admit you for a Cesarean section, cut you open and close up without touching your womb. You go home with your bastard & they, their millions. Years later, failed DNA tests will crash your home. Be wise! RT!”

Engineer allegedly breaks into neighbour’s house, rapes daughter in Ogun

Published

on

An engineer, Adewunmi Lawal, has reportedly gone into hiding after allegedly raping a neighbour’s daughter in Itele, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Newsmen gathered that the victim’s mother, who is a widow, left her and her three siblings at home and went to Badagry in Lagos State for prayers.

Two days after she left home, it was learnt that Adewunmi broke into her house in the night and allegedly had carnal knowledge of her 16-year-old daughter.

The victim later informed her mother, who asked her to report the incident to a human rights organisation, the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, so as to get justice.

The matter was also reported at the Itele Police Station, but efforts to apprehend Adewunmi have proved abortive as he reportedly disappeared immediately after the incident almost two months ago.

The victim’s mother said Adewunmi took advantage of her absence to perpetuate the crime, adding that he and his wife had been appealing to her for settlement, but she declined.

Explaining how the incident happened, the widow said,

“I travelled on Thursday to Badagry and left my younger children in my teenage daughter’s care. On Saturday, Adewunmi, whose house is opposite where I stay and had just returned from his working place after two years, broke into my apartment and forcefully had carnal knowledge of my daughter.

“He did that after noticing that I was not around. He came to my apartment in the night, started knocking the window and repeatedly called my daughter’s name to open the door, but she and her siblings refused. So, he left and came back 45 minutes later. This time, the younger children were already asleep, because it was raining.

“My daughter, who was still awake, suddenly heard someone breaking the back door of my apartment and when she moved closer to find out, she saw Adewunmi using a bench to break the wooden door to force his way in. When he gained entry, he struggled with her till he overpowered her and forcefully had sex with her on the floor. “

While demanding justice, the victim’s mother said she was told that Adewunmi wanted to use her daughter for rituals, adding that the victim had been acting strangely since the incident.

She said,

“When my daughter wanted to shout, he used a cloth to cover her mouth till he finished and left. My daughter called and informed me about the incident and said Adewunmi deflowered her. My comrades in the CDHR and I reported the matter to the Itele Police Station and when we asked for Adewunmi, his wife said he had left home since 4am. The incident happened on June 6, 2020, and he ran away on June 7, and we have not seen him since then.

“I took my daughter to a lot of people for assistance and I have been told that Adewunmi wanted to use her for rituals. He believes that there is no one to fight for me to get justice, that is why I need the government to help me.”

When contacted Adewunmi said,

“The allegation is a lie; if not because of my work, I would have come to Lagos. I caught her daughter and his junior brother having sex. It was when I went to pluck a leaf at the back of their house that I saw them.

“I was with them inside their house, where she was pleading with me not to tell her mother; it is a taboo and she was scared that I would report to her mother; she is trying to blackmail me.”

When asked how he gained entry into the house, he recanted his earlier statement and said, “I did not enter their house.”

The victim’s mother was later contacted and informed about the alleged incest by her children, but she refuted the claim and said, “We have evidence and recordings that he did it.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Adeewunmi had been declared wanted by the command, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

He said,

“The man is on our wanted list; we gathered that the man is living in Port Harcourt and the victim’s mother doesn’t know the exact place where he stays in Port Harcourt, but he is a landlord in the area where the crime was committed.

“The case has been transferred to the SCIID for proper investigation and I believe that very soon, we are going to get him.”

On Adewunmi’s incest allegation against the victim and her brother, the PPRO said,

“That claim is a plea of alibi. If he didn’t do it, why is he on the run? Why can’t he show up? Why is he calling the mother of the victim and begging her that he is ready to settle?

“A clear conscience doesn’t fear any accusation. If he didn’t do it, why has he not shown up at the police station to clear his name? Why did he abandon his house?”
