The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) are some of the first to congratulate two Nigerian ex-international players, Austin Jay Jay Okocha and Samson Siasia who are clocking new ages today.
Football fans worldwide, including former clubs and continental are also joining the celebration.
Okocha who clocked 44 today was born on August 14, 1973. Siasia, on the other hand, is clocking 50. He was born on 14 August 1967.
The two players were important members of the men’s senior National team, Super Eagles, that appeared at the country’s first World Cup participation in 1994.
Some of Okocha’s best club football moments were in German Bundesliga side, Eintracht Frankfurt; Turkish top flight team, Fenerbahçe; French side Paris Saint-Germain and English side Bolton Wanderers.
Siasia scored Nigeria’s only goal against Argentina in Nigeria’s last group game in the 1994 World Cup. In 2005, Samson Siasia coached the country’s under 20 team, taking them to the finals of both the 2005 Under-20 World Cup and the U-20 African Youth Championship. He won the African Youth Championship and advanced all the way to the world final – before losing to Argentina 2–1.
