A female armed robber, Bella Lucky, and two other suspects of a criminal gang were on Monday arrested in Delta State.
The trio were nabbed by men of the “Safe Delta” Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, led by CSP Anieteh Eyoh, at McClivers market area in Warri area of the state.
WuzupNigeria gathered that the armed robbery syndicate had been on the police wanted list for some time.
Daggers and some mobile phones were recovered from the suspects by the police operatives who tracked the female suspect down to a hideout after she allegedly stabbed and inflicted bodily injuries on a yet-to-be-identified woman.
The lady, it was gathered specializes in luring victims to the criminal gangs terrorizing Warri and its environs with commercial tricycle popularly known as “Keke”.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa, confirmed the arrest of the suspects, saying “three of them were arrested. One out of them is a very young girl.”
CP Inuwa, in a telephone chat, said:
“These are armed robbers who were using a woman. It’s not a question of notorious armed robber. It’s a gang using knife, stab people and rob them.”
According to the Police boss, the modus operandi of the syndicate is to use the female robber “to sort of deceive passengers, engage them in a discussion before they got carried away and they rob them”.
“They’ve been arrested and they’re in our custody”, the CP said.
