Femi Kuti breaks saxophone record



Afrobeat front-liner, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti has broken the world record for the longest single note played on a saxophone.

Femi Kuti played for 46mins 38secs to beat jazz musician, Kenny G’s 45mins 37 secs, set in 1997.

He broke the record on Sunday evening at the Africa Shrine, Agidingbi, Lagos.
The record was broken in the presence of a large audience that included Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce, the deputy high commissioners of Netherlands and The United Kingdom, Femi’s sister, Yeni reported.

“Femi did it at 55 years old,” his sister, Yeni Kuti said on Instagram.

She also said the “Sorry Sorry” crooner would be attempting the feat again in two weeks time in the presence of the Guinness World Records officials to make it recognised.

Afrobeat buffs and fans have flooded Femi’s twitter timeline with messages of congratulations.
