Five sure fun ways to cure tension

Published

In the country today, many are constantly under one form of pressure or the other. Infact, tension has almost become a household name in places of works and schools.

It is a well-known fact that when one is tensed, one may not be able to achieve as much as one should. So the only way out is to find how to ease the tension.

Here are some fun and scientifically proven ways to ease tension anywhere and any time:

1. Shake it off

Shaking your shoulders, your limbs, or your head from side to side is a form of meditation that literally allows you to shake off your tensions and reset your mind. Don’t whip your hair back and forth, Willow, do it right.

2. Close your eyes and listen to stand-up comedy
Closing your eyes and focusing your mind in any way is a great way to reset, but listening to stand-up comedy is even better. Laughing increases blood flow, relaxes you, and lowers cortisol levels. If you don’t like to laugh, please consult a medical professional. (Also works with music and guided meditation)

3. Do a headstand
Reversing the flow of gravity by inverting your body causes heavy blood flow to your brain that brings fresh nutrients and oxygen. Headstands also have a long list of other health benefits, and they make you look cool.
Here are instructions for how to safely do a headstand.

4. Call your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband (if they are not the source of the tension. If they are, just call your mom), and just let her talk
Hearing the voice of your loved ones, especially your mom releases oxytocin and lowers cortisol (in most people). It will also allow your brain to cool down by only having one simple thing to focus on. This also works with grandparents, significant others, and anyone else you like who you can count on to talk a lot. Closing your eyes during the conversation will bring added brain-resetting benefit.

5. Play table tennis
Table tennis uses all four lobes of the brain, but doesn’t strain your brain with complex thinking. It allows your mind to relax and focus while enhancing your ability to concentrate. (This also works with billiards and basketball).
