FORBES! Aliko Dangote is the only black man on list of World’s Most Powerful People

Africa’s richest man and Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has been named as the only black man on Forbes’ ‘The World’s Most Powerful People’ list.

The billionaire moved up two spaces from 68 in 2017 to 66.

According to the Forbes rich list, Dangote as of March 2018 had an estimated net worth of $14.1bn and ranked among the 100 richest in the world and the richest in Africa, a position he has held for almost a decade.

Dangote is the only Nigerian on the list and the second African who made the list, with the other being the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who was ranked the 45th.

The list is headed this year by Chinese President Xi Jinping, after the country amended its constitution, granting him the opportunity to rule for life.

Jinping bumped Russian President Vladimir Putin off the top spot, which he had occupied for four years.

US President Donald Trump falls to the 3rd spot, right in front of the world’s most powerful woman, Angela Merkel. The first ten are:

Also on the list, France’s president, Emmanuel Macron, Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg and British Prime Minister, Theresa May were the 12th, 13th and 14th with North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un at number 36.
