FREE AT LAST: Kidnapped Tanzania billionaire, Mohammed Dewji, regains freedom
Africa’s youngest billionaire, Mohammed Dewji, who was kidnapped earlier this month on his way to a gym session has been released and has returned home safely in Tanzania.
The 43-year-old CEO of METL Group took to his Twitter page to share the good news.
He also thanked well meaning Tanzanians including the Police Force for working for his safe return.
Dewji wrote;
“I thank Allah that I have returned home safely. I thank all my fellow Tanzanians, and everyone around the world for their prayers.
“I thank the authorities of Tanzania, including the Police Force for working for my safe return.”
Recall that masked gunmen in two cars ambushed the prominent businessman as he walked into the exclusive Colosseum Hotel and Fitness Club, where he is a member in October 11.

His captors reportedly dropped him near a golf club at the Dar es Salaam city centre on Friday night.
However, one Tanzanian Twitter user, identified as Fareed said that he had bruises on his hands and feet from being tied with a rope.
@Fumbuka who had shared details and updates of investigations on Dewji’s abduction posted photos of Dewji after his release.

“#Tanzania police say ransom was the motive for the kidnapping of business tycoon Mohammed Dewji, who was released in Dar es Salaam by his abductors at around 2:30am on Friday night after 9 days in captivity, Fareed tweeted.

Another Tweeter user, January Makamba@JMakamba also confirmed Dewji’s release on his timeline adding that he spoke to him and his father.

The 43-year-old is the CEO of METL Group, one of the largest industrial conglomerates in East Africa, with interests in manufacturing, distribution, trading, haulage, storage and real estate.
