Friday Ekpo, Gary Neville disagree over Odion Ighalo

Published

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Friday Ekpo has blasted former Manchester United defender Gary Neville for a comment that undervalues Odion Ighalo’s worth at Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to be in the market for a striker and there have been suggestions the former Watford man could just have his loan turned into a permanent one.

However, former Captain Neville appears to be against the idea, pointing out the dip in value in the market as the main reason.

“Is Ighalo worth £20m? Probably not in this market. He may have been if he continued scoring goals but you probably don’t need to spend £20m now,” Neville stated.

In a swift reaction, ex Nigerian international Ekpo said that Neville made a very wrong comment and as a former defender, he will find it difficult to understand the value of a striker like Odion Jude Ighalo.

“The guys talking are defenders, including Neville – He clearly does not understand the value of a good striker; for a player who came in when the team was struggling and made an instant impact?

“So, I will advise Odion to make his decision based on what he really wants; is it Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Shanghai Shenhua? He should just make the best decision for himself.
