GOD IS ABLE FIRE MINISTRY! Church members beat up journalists for covering GO’s trial
Members of God is Able Mega Fire Ministry, Opolo community, Bayelsa State on Wednesday turned Magistrate Court 3 into a theatre of violence after assaulting journalists over the coverage of the trial of the church’s General Overseer.
Apostle Kingsley Abiekunogho had allegedly fraudulently obtained a Toyota Sports Utility Vehicle and N20,000 from a church member, Seiyefa Sayou, in exchange for spiritual breakthroughs.
He was arraigned at Magistrate Court 3, but his church members, who were in court to give him moral support, turned violent when the accused pastor was being led out after the proceeding.
The pastor, who directed his members to cover him up from the prying lens of cameras when coming out of the court room into his car, got infuriated when they realized that journalists still managed to get shots of him.
Some loyal members of the church, who noticed that their pastor was no longer comfortable with the manner journalists managed to get a shot of him, descended on journalists.
A reporter with Silverbird Television was slapped while the battery of the camera of a TV Continental reporter was damaged. In the fracas, the pastor was whisked away in a car.
It took the intervention of some policemen to finally bring the situation under control.
